EPISODE 247 OFF GRID SEPTIC SYSTEMS

Todays episode is on off grid septic systems. This episode is inspired by the video on the gravity fed sink that James from survivalpunk.com uploaded on youtube. check it out below

There are many places you may want an off grid septic system such as at a hunting camp, your bug out location, or at a tiny house you have on your off grid property. I talk about the different ways that you can construct off grid septic systems.

Here is the disclaimer:

Off grid septic systems should be built at your own risk !!! Off grid septic systems usually are not legal !!! And i am not responsible for any thing that happens when building any of the off grid septic systems i talk about in today’s episode.

EPISODE-246 GRAVITY FED SINKS

Today’s episode is on gravity fed sinks.  A gravity fed sink is very common on off grid properties where you cant run power or don’t have the capacity to power a well pump without a generator. I thought about this more after i saw the video on the gravity fed sink that James from survivalpunk.com uploaded on youtube. check it out below

I also have a version of this i made for in my garage that you can see below

Listen into today’s show and listen in to my thoughts on a diy gravity fed sink for your off grid properties.

EPISODE 245 LEARNING A TRADE

I know today’s episode was supposed to be about water catchment but somehow i got off topic and started about learning a trade. Sometimes a decent episode comes out of my rants.

Learning a trade can be one of the best ways to learn a skill that can be with you for the rest of your life. There are many trades out there but i talk about welding because that is the trade i went to school for. Learning a trade is one way to have very little student debt or avoid it all together. When i went to welding school i paid $4,100. now the same program costs $8,400 and you can check it out here.

Now considering that the average starting wage for a welder is $33,277.00 thats not too bad of return on your investment to lean a skill that will be with you the rest of your life. Also in about 10 years there will be a shortage of people in the skilled trades when the last of the baby boomers retire in the next 10 or so years so the average salary is probably going up.  So if you want to hear about learning a trade that will be with you the rest of your life listen in today!

You can hear my episode on buying a welder by clicking the picture below.

EPISODE 243 THE HAMMER SLINGSHOT

Today’s episode is going to be my inital review of The Hammer slingshot from simple-shot.com . The Hammer is a modular system that can go between being a regular slingshot and a sling bow which makes it perfect for hunting in the woods or being in your bugout bag. The design of The Hammer lets you remove the regular slingshot head and replace it with a sling bow head giving it a lot of versatility in the field. The Hammer has a rail on it for mounting accessories on it as well. You can buy a bowfishing setup for it or you can make other attachments for it as well. Listen in to today’s show to hear all of my thoughts on the hammer slingshot.

Today’s episode is on survival books. My definition of survival books may be different than yours though. My definition of a survival book is a book that has anything in it that can teach you skills that you need to survive. It could be a book on solar power, fishing, hunting, trapping, general building or electrical wiring.  Having these skills are an important part of any diyers skill set.
